Jonesboro, AR. – The Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center (NEACAC) will host it’s Day Of Giving virtual event on July 17th 2020, as well as it’s online auction starting July 14 and ending July 17th, to raise a goal of $19,000 for the child abuse and neglect victims of Northeast Arkansas that have been impacted by Covid-19. Through this fundraiser, the NEACAC will have the ability to better serve the children and families in the community free of charge.

The NEACAC is hosting this event due to the cancellation of their inaugural Roaring Twenties Masquerade Ball that was to take place in April of this year. This virtual event enables them to continue their mission and reach their goals by presenting donors the opportunity to give once, monthly, or purchase an auction item donated by some of NEA’s favorite local businesses. The fundraiser and auction will launch through our BetterUnite link, which is accessible to anyone through the NEA Children’s Advocacy Facebook Page and website.

Child abuse doesn’t stop during a pandemic. Even during the COVID-19 crisis, the center remains open and continues to serve children. “We still receive reports daily, but unfortunately reports have been down about 50% due to school cancellations. We won’t find out about many child abuse and neglect issues until months after it has occured” said Amanda Frankenberger, director of the Northeast Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center. Child abuse reports are expected to increase when school resumes in August and the NEACAC needs support from the community now more than ever.

To report suspected child abuse or neglect, call the Arkansas Child Abuse hotline at 1.844.SAVE.A.CHILD or 1.800.482.5964. Like the NEA Children’s Advocacy Center’s Facebook page to stay updated on ways you can recognize or prevent child abuse during these times.
